In a design-build, Neal works with the homeowner's ideas to design the landscaping, irrigation, and lighting and installs all of it. His extensive background in landscaping and irrigation maintenance allows him to design a system that is not only initally pleasing, but that can be easily maintained long term.

Landscape Design and Installation

Neal installed this landscape from the architect's sketch.

• Homeowner wanted a fence for a secure feeling
• Yet a fence would make the lot look too confined
• The architect and Neal presented the homeowner with the option of a small boxwood hedge
• The homeowner was pleased, Neal installed the hedge, and you can see the beautiful result.

Derek Wee was the architect on this project. He's a structural architect working out of San Mateo. Neal finds him to be talented, with extensive knowledge that allows him to offer many options to achieve the desired results for a design.

Patio Design and Installation

Here, Neal worked with the homeowner to design a back yard and side yard. The homeowner turned the design of the patio area over to Neal. He told Neal that he wanted a pleasant place to sit outside. To start the design Neal looked at the overall area, noticed a creek flowing by the backyard, and used that as a theme for the design. That inspired his plant choices, such as river birch and Western redbud.

Garden Design and Installation

Here we see landscape that Neal designed with the homeowner and then installed.

Neal helped him apply landscape design principles to achieve an attractive design given the layout of the property. After they came to agreement on the design Neal installed the irrigation system and the lawn. He chose MP rotators to water the lawn.

You will see a mailbox that contains a small planter. Neal installed irrigation through the mailbox post to water the plant in the planter box.
